Bio

James J. Prunty is a seasoned association executive in the manufacturing, engineering, computer and construction industries. He has held executive positions in development, operations, finance, marketing and has worked in nonprofit organizations ranging from start-ups to a large, professional international management society. He has served on the Board of Directors of a number committees in Allied Societies of the American Society of Association Executives over the past 25 years, and he acts as a business advisor to member companies from the construction and finance industries.

As the Executive Vice President of the itSMFUSA, Mr. Prunty manages the largest chapter of an International Association. The chapter promotes an$2.25M annual conference and trade show that attracts more than 3,000 attendees, and 150 industry leading exhibitors. He also oversees a six figure fulfillment operation, certification program, professional registry and accreditation program for industry training vendors.

As a Director of the Associated General Contractors (AGC) of California, Prunty’s main areas of responsibility included the general management of the business affairs and activities of the southern region of a state construction association, managing a professional staff, advising the executive committee and board of directors, MIS and finance. He lead a broad spectrum of membership activities focusing on Internet development and associated technologies which provide member service delivery, availability, education, policies and legislation. He served as the staff liaison with the AGC’s Building Division, and the 200 member Legal Advisory committee ( the largest and most active of the association’s committees which meets eleven or more times each year to review any significant legal changes which may effect members and reviews new cases of interest in the California construction industry) legislative, bill review and the development of construction contracts and documents for general contractors. In addition, Prunty developed AGC’s Private Industry Council to promote dialogue with private owners involved in facility construction on owner needs; market trends; research; contracting practices; and legislation issues. Through the Council, AGC hopes to foster a construction industry that is more responsive to owners needs. Prunty also represented AGC on the LAUSD’s Proposition “BB” Blue Ribbon Citizens Oversight Committee. The Committee monitors $2.4 billion in school construction.

Mr. Prunty was previously Executive Director of the Associated Builders & Contractors, Executive Vice President of The International Material Management Society and Managing Regional Director of the American Association of Equipment Lessors (AAEL).

He joined LCA West Capital Corp. as Vice President of Portfolio Servicing upon leaving AAEL.

A graduate of the University of Colorado, Prunty earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Marketing. He resides in Ocean, NC with his wife Gerri.
